Не могу подобрать модальный глагол..

d) don’t have to.

 

Ведь можно говорить, что "врач говорит, что мне не следует" или "нельзя", или "не должен".. Думаю, что вариант или a или d.. А правильно-то как?

Меня смущает вот это предложение: Having seen him, her giult gave way to despair. Не будет ли здесь такой же ошибки, как и в знаменитом примере "Подъезжая к деревне, с меня слетела шляпа"? Т.е. можно ли причастный оборот употреблять, не привязывая его к подлежащему? Если можно, объясните со ссылками на источник.

THE LONDON MARATHON
