As a child, Cassidy took gymnastics and eventually became a cheerleader for the California Flyers, a competitive team. She cheered as a freshman for Calabasas High School where she attended classes. As a teenager, Cassidy became interested in show business. She took acting, singing and dance lessons and despite her father's disapproval, she landed a deal with Artemis Records to cover his 70's hit, "I Think I Love You." However, her cover failed to attract a large number of fans or a record deal, but Cassidy was able to land a role in Bubblegum Babylon, VH1's TV special on pop idols and the music business to help promote her singing career. While she was still signed with Artemis Records, she was introduced to the popular boy band, Dream Street. This is where she first met Greg Raposo, whom she dated for a few months in 2002. With these words from the title track to his second album Right Where You Want Me, an older, wiser Jesse McCartney is most certainly back. It's been two years since the release of Beautiful Soul , the platinum-plus selling album and Top 5 single which topped the charts in Australia , Italy , the Phillippines and Taiwan and made "Jesse Mac" a household name. And in that time, the singer-songwriter and actor has seen more than his share of award shows, movie sets and sold out venues (Jesse garnered an American Music Award nomination for Best New Artist, an MTV Award nomination for Best Pop Video and three Teen Choice Awards, including Choice Male Artist, Breakout Artist and Crossover Artist , as well as 2 highly coveted Emmy Award nominations). But in between his professional obligations, McCartney also took that time to reflect on how far he'd come.
“It's been a long haul, but it's exceeded every expectation on every front,” says the now 19-year-old Jesse. “The last couple of years have been a roller coaster. It was mind-blowing and so fulfilling and, to be honest, I put every ounce of energy I had into it.”
